Asia Mission to Review 3 Years of Progress - Thap Lan World Heritage, Thailand
From the Executive Director
One of the best missions for Global Conservation I have experienced, seeing the enthusiasm and solid success to achieve ‘No Cut, No Kill’ park and wildlife protection in Thap Lan World Heritage Park and the Eastern Forests Complex of Thailand.
Global Park Defense program’s third year achieved over 600 arrests of Siamese rosewood and wildlife poachers based on our Global Park Defense surveillance and anti-poaching system, and the hard work and bravery of Thap Lan’s amazing rangers.
Special Thanks to the Thap Lan World Heritage Park Authority and Jeep Janprodab, Assistant Director who has led the war on Rosewood poaching for 4 years in the field. (Right) Special thanks to Anak Pattanavibool of WCS Thailand for his amazing leadership in park and wildlife protection. Working together an amazing success by a great team which is now a model for Thailand and other Asian countries.
Here are some highlights:
Global Conservation kicks off Global Park Defense in 2016 with WCS Thailand to deploy systems, equipment and training.
Global Park Defense is a multi-year program supporting National Park Authorities in planning, training, deployment and assessment.
Thap Lan Ranger severely injured by gunshot from illegal rosewood poachers.
Cellular Trailcam Networks provide 24/7 surveillance of roads, rivers and trails throughout the park enabling rangers to target ambushes effectively rather than randomly patrolling thousands of acres.
