Reconnaissance Overflight Carried Out Against the Advance of Illegal Mining in Madre de Dios
On August 27, the 2nd Jungle Brigade for the Protection of the Amazon received a visit from Dr. Ronal Ramón Flores Ñañez, Deputy Supreme Prosecutor attached to the Office of the Attorney General, and Dr. Frank Robert Almanza Altamirano, National Coordinating Senior Prosecutor of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Offices, to verify the military actions carried out against the advance of illegal mining in Madre de Dios.
A reconnaissance overflight was carried out over the Tambopata National Reserve and the Manu National Reserve as part of the verification and recognition actions of the protected natural areas, allowing us to appreciate from the air the conditions of these important conservation spaces and the deployment of actions aimed at protecting them against illicit activities.
Additionally, an exhibition was held showcasing the actions, capabilities, and strategies of the objectives set by the 2nd Jungle Brigade for the Protection of the Amazon, highlighting the eradication of illegal mining in the Tambopata National Reserve as a goal for this year.
As part of this activity, the NGO Global Conservation also donated two cargo motorcycles, contributing to the strengthening of the logistical capacities of the 2nd Jungle Brigade for the Protection of the Amazon and to the development of actions aimed at protecting and conserving the natural spaces of the Amazon.
This activity strengthened coordination and collaboration between the 2nd Jungle Brigade for the Protection of the Amazon, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and SERNANP, reaffirming the commitment of state institutions to work together in protecting natural heritage and combating illegal mining in the Peruvian Amazon.
