Global Conservation Launches Third Film in Series - War On Nature: Derawan Archipelago

In this episode, join conservation photojournalist Paul Hilton as he uncovers the urgent threats and inspiring conservation efforts in the Derawan Archipelago, Indonesia, also known as the "Jewel of Indonesia."

War on Nature Episode 3: Derawan Archipelago premieres live this Sunday at 10am PST where Paul Hilton (@paulhiltonphoto) takes risks to expose & document illegal activities harming this critical ecosystem in the Coral Triangle.

Derawan Archipelago faces severe challenges from illegal fishing, shark finning, and the poaching of sea turtle eggs. Additionally, coal mining operations are now using these waterways to transport toxic cargo, exacerbating the environmental threats. The lack of law enforcement for existing wildlife and habitat protection further complicates the situation.

War on Nature - Derawan Archipelago highlights how Global Conservation is implementing the Global Park Defense (GPD) program to protect this sensitive ecological area. This includes targeted patrolling, the use of marine radar, and other surveillance methods. Moreover, our Community Protection program fosters a culture of conservation among locals, offering sustainable career opportunities that move away from resource exploitation.

Join Paul Hilton as he explores the many issues and people involved in protecting this global biodiversity hotspot. Learn about the initial phase of Global Park Defense in Derawan, the arrest of sea turtle egg poachers, and the training provided to military branches and park rangers. Support our mission to safeguard Derawan and other critical ecosystems. Visit Global Conservation Donations to get involved today. Together, let's protect our planet's most precious ecosystems.
