A Year in the Life of Global Conservation

2024 was a huge year for this US-based organization led by Jeff Morgan. This video shows land and sea protection work in Guatemala, Uganda, Malaysia, Ukraine, Indonesia, Ecuador, Cambodia, Panama, and Cameroon.

January:

Indonesia - ABC films “LAST LANDS” in Derawan Archipelago featuring the Marine Protection work of Global Conservation

Cambodia: The use of camera traps set up by rangers has revealed new tiger families. Here, a mother and her two cubs are seen with prey. Supported by GC, a new Tiger Reintroduction Center has helped raise the population of tigers.

July:
Ecuador – GC Supports Anti-Mining Operations with Indigenous Communities & Park Rangers in the Amazon.


August:
Cambodia - Cardamoms National Park secured $120M REDD+ Carbon Credits to benefit 20,000 Local People and Community Protection.

September:

October:

GC Executive Director Jeff Morgan signs a multi-year agreement with the Ministry of Environment (MiaAmbiente) of Panama to strengthen conservation and stop illegal activities, such as logging and mining, within the country’s largest national parks.

November:
Panama - Historic Agreement Signed to Protect Darien - Coiba – La Amistad National Parks and Naso Indigenous Territories.

December:
Cameroon - Global Conservation opens Joint Operations Command Centers (JOCCs) to protect Dja Rainforest Complex and Last African Forest Elephants

The National Border Service of Panama (SENAFRONT), the Public Ministry, and the Ministry of Environment (MiAMBIENTE) dismantled an illegal mining network in the Mangle River, in Alto Tuira, within Darién National Park, near the border between Panama and Colombia.
