Global Conservation and our partners are inviting you to attend a four-day Tikal Summit for National Leaders in Park and Wildlife Protection of Latin America. This intensive training event for National Park and Protected Area Leaders from Latin America on key challenges facing parks and wildlife, showing examples of success and best practices in the region. One of our key themes for the summit will be community protection.
James R. (Jim) Barborak and Ryan Finchum, Co-Directors at Protected Area Management, Warner College of Natural Resources, Colorado State University will provide intensive training on Best Practices in National Park and Protected Area Management, and we will here from each of our colleagues at other UNESCO World Heritage sites and endangered national parks their challenges and potential solutions.
Hosted in Peten, Guatemala by Francisco Asturias, Fundaeco, Director of Mirador National Park protection and leader of the Genesis ranger team, will be hosting our visit and explorations into Tikal National Park with optional visits to Yaxha and Mirador National Parks.
Designed for leaders from national parks and other internationally important protected areas, in-country partners and high-level government conservation authorities, our goal is sharing of solutions and challenges and to build camaraderie and a community of practice and promote information and knowledge exchange.
Global Conservation supports our regional community and individuals with the skills, knowledge, competencies, and optimism to conserve the biodiversity and ensure high quality stewardship of some of the world’s most important protected areas.
